Kanata Girls Hockey Association Powered by Goalline Sports Administration Software

About Us

Founded more than 35 years ago, the Kanata Girls Hockey Association grew slowly until 1990
when the first ever Women's World Championships were played here in Ottawa.  Registration
shot through the roof, and we have continued to grow to become one of the largest Girls
Association in Eastern Ontario with over 700 players of all ages, playing on more than 40 teams!
We are also one of the few female organizations that offer girls and women every level of play from introduction up to adult.

The KGHA draws girls from Kanata as well as the neighboring communities of Goulbourn and West Carleton.  Our annual KGHA tournaments draw teams from across the province, Quebec and the U.S.

Kanata, once a city of more than 50,000 people, and often referred to as Silicon Valley North (or the home of the Ottawa Senators), is now a western suburb of Ottawa.  We are located 20km west of downtown on Highway 417, to the west of Highway 416.

- Player Registration
- Equipment
- Player & Team Commitment
- Team Finances
- Practice Allocations
- Risk and Safety

Policies can be amended at anytime throughout the year at an official KGHA Executive Meeting.

They can be found in the Resource section.

Program Guidance

In developing the policy manual, it became clear that the Executive needed to also document guidance it has developed over many years, which could not be made official policy, because it is not always achievable. This guidance can be found in the Resource section with Policy.

Gilhooly Volunteer Recognition Award

Each year the members of the KGHA are encouraged to nominate an individual to receive the Gilhooly Volunteer Recognition Award. This award is presented to a volunteer, or husband and wife team, who have shown exceptional dedication and commitment to the KGHA. To learn about our past winners, click here.

Community Service Award

The KGHA would like to recognize a team annually for their contributions to their community. During the year we all receive a great deal from our community, and this award recognizes teams that have made an effort to give back to it on behalf of their team, and the association.

Passion For Hockey Award

In recognition of the inspiration Emilie Joinette has provided so many of us, we presented her with our first ever Passion for Hockey Award at the 2005 year end banquet. For more information about this amazing young woman, please visit www.fusesite.com/emiliej/. Thank you Emilie for inspiring us!

Bursaries

Each year, a few KGHA players in their graduating year of high school, and that are registered to attend a post secondary institution in the fall, are presented with financial awards. The award recipients are chosen on merits relating to their academic standing, contributions to community, and their involvement with the KGHA. The money comes from sponsors and fundraising activity.
Applicants are asked to provide details of their hockey career and accomplishments, involvement in community and school activities, academic standing, how they personally benefited from their hockey experience, and their career plans.

We are looking for sponsors of these awards, and will see that their contribution is recognized.

Code Of Conduct

The primary objectives of the Kanata Girls Hockey Association are:
