  • Our KGHA Registration for the upcoming 2021/22 is now OPEN.
  • Registration fees for the season for both House and Competitive Programs at U9, U11, U13, U15 and U18 are $765.00 (same as 2019-20 and planned 2020-21 seasons
  • Our Junior Fundamentals (U7) program registration is $350.00

a) Payment Options

  • Payment is by credit card only and charges will be applied on the day your application is submitted.
  • The online registration is through secure payment using the new RAMP registration system.
  • Registration payments cab be collected in installments. The first installment of $400 will be charged immediately with the second installment of $365 processed in January 2022.
b) House Program - Goalie Discount
  • To encourage players who are interested in playing goalie for part of the season, KGHA will rebate 50% of the House Registration fees to any House player at the U9, U11 or U13 levels who play the position for practices, scrimmages and game/tournament play for at least 50% of the season
  • Ideally, this will set up each House team with two (2) goalies while still providing interested players to play the other 50% as skaters
  • KGHA will rebate 25% of House Registration fees to any House player who registers as goalie for the U15 and U18 levels provided they also play the position for at least 50% of the season activities. Our goal at this level is to have a dedicated goalie for each team.
  • If you know your player is interested in this option, please select "Goalie" at registration
  • Rebates will be applied later in the season (details to come)
  • To learn more, please contact vphouse@kgha.ca

  • For U15 and U18 Competitive Programs:  AA Competitive Evaluations will take place as early as August 2021.  All other levels will commence in September 2021.
  •  U9 and U11 Competitve Evaluations will be following the Hockey Canada Pathways for conditioning and tryouts and will take place following the other levels.

6. Open Tryouts
Any player who is interested in the Competitive Evaluation (tryout) process for a OSWHC or Rangers team, should register online. This does not constitute full registration. Full registration will take place after Evaluations are finished and teams are made.

All required documentation (proof of age, PTS or Release and tryout form) must be emailed to the Registrar (registrar@kgha.ca) prior to the first evaluation session (preferred) or presented at the first evaluation session. No player will be allowed on to the ice unless all documentation and fees are in order.

For any questions related to Competitive Evaluations, please email the VP Competitive

7.  Permission to Skate / Releases & Import policy

Permissions to skate with another Association may be granted for summer camps and similar events only. If a player wishes to try out for another association, they will be granted a release. Once released, the earliest you may make an application to return to the KGHA will be the following hockey season. For more details, see the Policy

The Registration Policy has changed last season in regards to the import policy after a Release. View the current KGHA Import Policy

8. Definitions

KGHA District – City of Kanata and the townships of West Carleton and Goulbourn – as they were defined immediately before amalgamation into the City of Ottawa.

KGHA Veteran Player – A player of the KGHA District that was registered with the KGHA during the previous season, or a non-KGHA District Player that has been a member in the KGHA for all of the previous two seasons.

Registered Player – a registered player is one who was registered and played with the KGHA in the previous season and registered for the upcoming season.

Returning Players - Players who were registered with the KGHA for the previous season will have a spot on a team for the upcoming season providing they register before midnight July 31, and we field a team at your age level. Returning players who do NOT register by midnight July 31, will lose their assurance of placement for the upcoming season. Please note that the KGHA will register Intermediate teams based on the number of returning and new players, as well as ice availability for this age group, all of which will not be known until August.

New Players - Players who were not registered with the KGHA in the previous season are considered new players and will be accepted into the KGHA to the extent we have spaces available for the age group that you are registering for. We emphasize that your greatest assurance of a spot is to register as early as possible.  New players who are trying out for competitive teams and do not make the team are not assured of a spot in KGHA house teams over veteran players.  New players MUST submit a copy of a proof of age document, such as a birth certificate, along with their payment. Please check the registration policy for import limitations.

FAQ
Q: My daughter really wants to play hockey, but our family will struggle to pay the registration fee. Can you help?
A: Yes, the KGHA can help. Payment plans are available, splitting the registration cost into smaller increments over a longer period of time. In addition, each year, the KGHA is able to offer reduced registration fees to a few qualifying families through the Cameron Smith Foundation. For more information, to donate, or to apply for consideration, please contact the KGHA president (president@kgha.ca).

Q. Does KGHA have open tryouts?
A. The Lady Sens Women’s Hockey Club Intermediate team, the Lady Sens Bantam and Midget AA teams as well as all Rangers AA team tryouts are open to non KGHA players.

Q. Does KGHA have walk-on tryouts.
A. For our Lady Sens teams and Rangers AA tryouts there is an opportunity to register for these tryouts the day of the first tryout, but we would prefer that players register online. All required documentation must be presented and fees paid prior to being allowed on the ice for tryouts. For other Ranger team tryouts, the KGHA does not offer walk-on opportunities - those tryouts are only open to players that have registered with the KGHA on-line prior to the first tryout for the respective team.

Q. Why offer a Release and not a PTS?
A. Along with many other associations, we are focused on putting an end to the practice of team shopping, and the tremendous organizational demands and costs associated with the activities of a few. We wish to emphasize that the KGHA is a not-for-profit volunteer operated organization, which has decided that the costs and risks associated with this activity should be moved from the already over taxed coach and Executive volunteers of our Association, to the players/parents involved in the activity.

If you have any further questions, please check the Registration Policy. If your question has not been answered, please email registrar@kgha.ca.
