KGHA COVID Update - Thursday December 16, 2021

2021-12-16

We are all aware of increasing COVID-19 cases in our community and the impact of the omicron variant. Be assured that we are closely monitoring directions and updates from Ottawa Public Health, Hockey Canada and the Ontario Women's Hockey Association.

While we are not unilaterally suspending hockey activities at this time, we are asking for your cooperation in following new temporary measures to reduce the amount of contact our members have with each other.

Effective immediately, we highly recommend that:
  1. All players arrive at the arena fully dressed, with the exception of skates, gloves and helmets

  2. Avoid entering the facility more than 20 minutes ahead of your scheduled ice time.

  3. Wear a mask at all times in public spaces, in the change rooms and up to the point stepping on the ice. As soon as you step off the ice, mask goes back on.

  4. Please always complete your RAMP screening before attending any team activity

  5. Don't come to hockey if you aren't feeling well, have any symptoms, are waiting on test results for yourself or a symptomatic family member and/or have been told to self-isolate.

  6. Try to maintain distance in change rooms from other players where possible

  7. Don't share water bottles

  8. Post-game/practice - leave quickly & don't linger in facilities

  9. Use judgement when scheduling team activities off-ice.
(e.g., Consider full vaccination status of your team - is choosing to have a team gathering going to potentially exclude a member who is not yet eligible for full vaccination status?  Does a family member have an underlying medical condition that puts them at risk of complications? Can the event be held outside?)

  10. Do notifsafety@kgha.ca if a player or coach or staff member in contact with players on a team tests positive.

Many of these points are common sense and in line with guidance we have been given throughout the pandemic. We also recognize that many of our players and coaches are fully vaccinated at this time, and we are winding down games and practices already for the holiday break.

We will keep you update on any changes as they arrise on this page.
