Share Important KGHA Update - December 24th, 2020
2020-12-24
Following the Province of Ontario's announcement this week to issue a 28 day lockdown across Southern Ontario, the KGHA is temporarily suspending 2020-21 season activities at this time.As unfortunate as it is to issue this announcement as we head into the Holiday Season, we do want to update our KGHA community on status.
We are in close communication with the City of Ottawa, our facility partners and OWHA. Key details to share at this time include:
- The Ontario Government has issued the Provincewide Shutdown that goes into effect as of Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 12:01 a.m. This shutdown includes all indoor recreational and fitness activities.
- The City of Ottawa has communicated that all facilities will be closed for this 28 day period, until January 23rd, 2021.
- The OWHA has issued directives to all associations that individual training and team sports are NOT permitted either inside or outside and in any format. For greater clarity, no indoor or outdoor sports or recreational classes are permitted at any indoor or outdoor sport and recreational facilities. OWHA Members may continue virtual sessions that meet OWHA requirements such as Code of Conduct and following the 2-deep standards. Full details can be found in the December 23rd OWHA News Bulletin.
- We emphasize that Groups, Extended Groups, Teams, Cohorts, Bubbles or any other terminology used are shutdown for in-person activities. Individual training, scrimmages, 3 on 3, 4 on 4, and other activities are NOT permitted at this time in any indoor our outdoor venues (including ODRs).
We will continue to monitor and udpate you on status and any changes.
We ask for your cooperation and understanding. as we adhere to these directives. We all want to get back to hockey as soon as possible. We thank all our players, families and team staff for all doing their part to keep our girls on the ice in this challenging year.
We sincerely hope for a Happy, Healthy 2021 Hockey Year for all our players! In the meantime, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and stay safe everyone!
