An Update from your KGHA Executive

2020-05-07

Your KGHA Executive met Monday, May 7th, 2020 to discuss current status on the suspension of all sanctioned hockey activities through Hockey Canada and the OWHA, and potential return to play scenarios for the 2020-21 Season.

The uncertainty we all face regarding COVID-19 has affected everyone’s daily lives in multiple ways. We know you miss hockey - and we do too. And while we don't have the answers you want to hear just yet, we are working with OWHA to be ready for #kgha2021.

Be assured that the OWHA is working in close consultation with Government representatives, Public Health agencies and Hockey Canada to determine protocols and directives for return to play scenarios for the upcoming 2020-21 Season. OWHA is also in regular communication with its member associations across the province on the consulations and planning currently underway.

We would love to provide direction and certainty about what lies ahead -- but the hard truth is we just have to be patient while we wait for direction.

At this time, we are unable to schedule the spring KGHA Annual General Meeting as we cannot meet in person under the provisions through the Emergency Act currently in effect in the Province of Ontario.  We are permitted to delay the AGM until such time that Act is lifted.  If we are unable to hold the AGM face to face because of social distancing and group gatherings, we will schedule a virtual AGM.  We will also work to schedule the meeting at a time when we have clarity on direction for the upcoming 2020-21 season.

If you have questions in the meantime, do not hesitate to send them to communications@kgha.ca. Over the coming weeks we will post your questions and answers as they come in an FAQ on our KGHA website.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and we hope to see you all soon!
