Share KGHA's Smith Honoured By Bobby Ryan And CHEO
2018-12-17
One of our own Kanata Rangers will be recognized tonight at the Ottawa Senators game! Madyson Smith was nominated by CHEO as one of Bobby Ryan’s All Star Kids. Please read on to hear Madyson's story...Mady is bringing awareness to Crohn’s Disease and sharing her story to everyone who displays strength on and off the ice in the fight to cure Crohn’s disease!
Madyson Smith was diagnosed with severe Crohn’s disease in the summer of 2017. Madyson was tube fed via a nasogastric tube for 10 weeks. This did not stop her! During this time Madyson carried a back pack with a pump inside to help feed her while she played hockey and participated in all the activities kids regularly do. She has a true love and passion for sports and despite having a tube in her nose, she continued to play hockey and play the sports she loves! She is a Ranger inside and out!
Madyson was hospitalized and had many trips to CHEO. Despite losing weight and lacking energy – she muscled through this and continued her journey with a focus on playing hockey with her friends. Her resilience and spirit is inspiring! Crohn’s disease brings symptoms that come and go and many are affected continuously every day. Mady currently receives monthly infusions of IV Remicade and takes medication daily to help manage her disease.
Madyson is now involved in raising funds for Crohn’s research and is beyond grateful for the team at CHEO. Tonight, Bobby Ryan and his team of All Stars will bring awareness to Crohn’s disease and many other diseases that children battle. Madyson will be proudly wearing her Senator’s Jersey at the Sens Game to represent the Rangers and also to represent strength, resilience and spirit that is displayed by Madyson and by her Ranger teammates on and off the ice!
Go Sens Go! Go Mady Go! Go Rangers Go!
