Charlie McTavish Named New KGHA Competitive Goalie Mentor

2018-08-17

The KGHA is pleased to announce that Charlie McTavish of Complete Goaltending Development has been named the new KGHA Competitive Goalie Mentor for #KGHA1819 and beyond. Congrats, Charlie! Please read on for the official news release:

In an effort to ensure ongoing development for our KGHA girls, we recently announced Derek Miller as KGHA's newly minted Director of Hockey Operations. Derek's role will be critical in overseeing the growth and development of not only our players, but our association.

Amidst what Derek will provide, it will also be critical to ensure that the vision and plan for the KGHA is also inclusive of all our young goalies. As such, the KGHA felt it imperative to solidify a mentorship program for goalies in our competitive program and we are therefore pleased to annouce Charlie McTavish as our new Competitive Goalie Mentor. Charlie will mentor not only our goalies, but our goalie coaches as well.

Charlie has a detailed eye for basic and advanced technical execution. He has worked directly with the Ottawa Senators Development Camp, Ottawa University, Smiths Falls Bears and Pembroke Lumber Kings of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). He is also the lead goaltending skills coach for Peak Centre Academy. Charlie has been consulting with teams and associations in the Ottawa area for 14 years. He is also the current CEO at Complete Goaltending Development. Also, some exciting news with respect to Charlie - yesterday he was unveiled as the new Ottawa 67's Goaltending Coach. He fills the void left by the departure of Andy Chiodo, who left the Ontario Hockey League team in June to join the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.

With Derek and Charlie at the helm, KGHA membership can rest assured that player and goalie development are at the forefront. Implementing these gentlemen, in these roles, positions the KGHA as the premier girls association in the Ottawa area and ensures that the KGHA remains a developmental and competitive organization for years to come.

*Please note that House League goalie sessions through Dave Stathos Goalie Performance Center will remain unaffected by this new development.
