McLaren To Join Atom AA As Assistant Coach

2018-08-15

Kanata Rangers Atom AA Head Coach Andy Bryan is pleased to announce the addition of Caitlyn McLaren as a full-time, non-parent assistant coach to their team for the 2018-19 season.

Caitlyn recently completed her fourth and final year at Union College (NCAA Division I) where she played as a standout offensive defenseman throughout her four seasons. She played in all 34 games in each season and holds the record for points by a defenseman. In the 2016-17 season she lead her team in scoring with 11 points and then bettered that mark with 18 points during her final year last season.

Caitlyn graduated with a bachelors of science in biology at Union and she is now a pre-med student getting her masters of cellular and molecular medicine at University of Ottawa as she works to become a doctor.

“Caitlyn has an incredibly impressive resume from a hockey standpoint, but we are equally excited to have a female role model for our girls who continues to be so successful and ambitious in her other aspects of life as she works to become a doctor”, said Andy Bryan. “Our girls and our families will benefit greatly from having Caitlyn as a member of our team and I couldn’t be more excited to be announcing her addition.”

Prior to receiving a scholarship to play NCAA Division I, Caitlyn played for the Ottawa Lady Sens PWHL, Midget AA, and Bantam AA teams. She was a member of the Bantam AA Lady Sens team which started the DIFD initiative.
