Potential Changes Coming To Police Records Checks

2018-07-20

Be advised that the Ottawa Police Service is currently discussing charging for Volunteer Police Records Checks as of September 2018. That being said, please get your requests into them as soon as possible for #KGHA1819, if required.

Are you thinking about volunteering for the upcoming season? A valid Vulnerability Police Record Check is required if you will have any interaction with the players, including managers, den mothers, and team ice and bench staff. Police Record Checks are valid for three years from the issue date.

If you are within the City of Ottawa, you can apply online with the Ottawa Police and the completed record can be emailed directly to you. If you are outside of the city, you can apply at your local OPP dispatch.

The record check is free if you have a letter from the KGHA. If you need to apply for an initial or renew your existing record check, email safety@kgha.ca for a letter.

If you have a valid check from another volunteering position or you have received your recent record check, a copy of the paperwork needs to be uploaded within the KGHA Qualification Reporting site. The KGHA is not provided a copy of your record check by the police, only the requester is provided a copy.
