The Lady Sens Junior team came tantalizingly close, within 19 seconds in fact, to making the three-game road trip of Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 one to remember.
Having secured wins Friday night in Cambridge, a 2-1 overtime thriller, and Saturday, a decisive 4-1 win over the Waterloo Rangers, the first-place Lady Sens had visions of returning home with a 3-0 road record. As the game looked like it was headed to another overtime, a deflected pass found its way into the Sens net, giving Brampton a narrow 1-0 victory with just 19 seconds left to play.
In Saturday's win over Waterloo in Kitchener, Meara Ryan staked the Lady Sens to an early lead two minutes into the opening frame. It was a lead the team never relinquished. Chloe McNeil and Abby Davies tallied second period markers. Gigi Pora added another in the third period to put the game on ice for Ottawa. Maddison Stitt had three assists.
Davies led the Lady Sens in the OT win over Cambridge on Friday with a short-handed goal in the second period and a powerplay tally just 26 seconds into overtime. Linemate Katherine Chadwick assisted on both goals.
